Where Are They Now - Roswell

For those of you who just climbed out from under a rock and are not familiar with the 1947 crash incident in Roswell, New Mexico, Let me enlighten you. The Roswell incident was the alleged recovery of extra-terrestrial debris and alien corpses, from an object which crashed near Roswell in June or July of that year. The famous UFO crash is pretty much the premise for Roswell the series. Max Evans (Jason Behr), Isabel Evans (Katherine Heigl) and Michael Guerin (Brendan Fehr) were supposedly those aliens that crashed near Roswell and survived growing among the humans after being adopted as orphans. The series focuses on their high-school life, their love and loss and trying to conceal their true identity. Oh and they also have special powers.

Liz Parker (Shiri Appleby) – Appleby played fellow highschooler Liz Parker, who accidentally got shot at the coffee shop she worked, which drove Max to save her life by healing her and revealing his secret. Liz and Max fell in love that day, and together they did their best to protect him and his fellow “aliens” for three whole seasons.

After Roswell ended in 2002, Appleby did her share of semi-famous movies like Swimfan and Charlie Wilson’s war, a lot of TV movies like What Love Is and Unstable, as well as several famous shows like Six Degrees, ER and her current successful CW show, Life Unexpected in the role of Cate Cassidy.

Shiri’s personal life is not as open to the public as I would like but I am familiar with a few of the guys she has dated. First off she dated her Roswell co-star, Jason Behr, from 1999 to 2000, who also played her on-screen love interest, Max Evans.

Then she was associated with former professional NHL player, Steve Shields, who used to play for the Buffalo Sabers between 2002 and 2005. And last but not least, the last known Appleby boyfriend was none other than Scrubs actor, Zack Braff, whom she dated from 2007 to 2008.

Fun Fact: Appleby auditioned for all 3 female roles on Roswell several times before being cast as Liz.

Max Evans (Jason Behr) – Behr played other world new comer Max Evans, who arrived on earth along with his sister Isabel and their friend Michael. As mentioned above, Max’s love interest was a human waitress named Liz Parker, who he fell in love with after saving her life at a local diner after a robbery gone wrong.

Behr leaned more towards movies after Roswell, including The Grudge as Sarah Michelle Gellar’s boyfriend, a SciFi movie called Skinwalkers as a good werewolf gone rogue and a few more unknown movies such as D-War and The Tatooist in 2007, as well as The Last International Playboy and Senseless in 2008.

Behr also tried his luck in Television, filming three unsold TV pilot’s, one for CBS and two for FOX. You could almost say that Roswell Killed his career. Before Roswell, he appeared in Step by Step, JAG, Profiler, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, 7th Heaven and Dawson’s Creek. After Roswell he seemed to be heaving no luck.

When it comes to his personal life, it seems that Jason Behr dated both of his Roswell co-stars, Shiri Appleby and Katherine Heigl while the show was filming. Behr met his wife, actress Kadee Strickland (Private Practice) while making The Grudge together in Japan. The couple married on November 10, 2006 in Ojai, California, in a ceremony that included elements of Japanese culture.

Fun Fact: Owns an Akita dog named Ronin.

Isabel Evans (Katherine Heigl) – Heigl played Max’s sister Isabel, an alien to the people of earth, trying to fit in with the population as much as possible. Heigl is no question, the most famous celebrity to come out of Roswell, from television show to the film scene, Heigl is a success.

Since Roswell ended in 2002, Heigl added such movies to her resume as The Ringer, Knocked Up, 27 Dresses, The Ugly Truth, Killers, Life as We Know It and her upcoming films are One for the Money and New Year’s Eve. And of course we can’t forget her character Dr. Isobel “Izzie” Stevens on Grey’s Anatomy from 2005 to 2010.

Before marrying singer Josh Kelley in 2007, Heigl dated the like of Joey Lawrence and her Roswell co-star Jason Behr. In September of 2009, Heigl and Kelley adopted a special needs baby girl from South Korea, naming her Nancy Leigh (after Heigl’s mother and sister), nicknamed Naleigh. She was born on November 23, 2008.

Heigl and her mother started an animal charity called Hounds of Hope which operates as part of the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation. The Foundation was created in honor of Katherine’s brother, who was killed in a car accident when he was fifteen. Heigl’s Hounds of Hope rescues large dogs with behavior problems from shelters with a high kill rate and rehabilitates them with the help of training and other adjustments to make them more suitable for re-homing.

Fun Fact: Played the cello in High School.

Maria DeLuca (Majandra Delfino) - Maria DeLuca was Liz Parker’s best friend and a local waitress where both Parker and DeLuca worked. Probably the least successful actress to come out of Roswell, Delfino did a few unknown television series and a few unknown made for TV movies.

Delfino was in a couple of episodes of Men of a Certain Age as well as a small part in Katherine Heigl’s Life as We Know It. Her focus seems to be more on music than acting. She has already released to albums by her own record company (Both can be bought on iTunes and her website Majandra.com and is currently working on a third, as she announced in February on her Twitter.

Born Maria Alejandra Delfino in Caracas, Venezuela and was only nicknamed Majandra because her sister could not pronounce her full name. Delfino attended Ransom Everglades and New World School of the Arts in Miami, Florida. Married actor Devon Gummersall in 2007, who played her character’s cousin in Roswell. Unfortunately they divorced a year later in 2008.

Fun Fact: Lost out the role in American Beauty to Mena Suvari in 1999.

Michael Guerin (Brendan Fehr) – Guerin played the bad boy alien that came to earth along with Max and Isabel. He didn’t get as lucky as the brother and sister duo with a loving family, he got a drunk dad and a trailer park, so safe to say he was the rebel of the group. Guerin’s girlfriend was Maria DeLuca, Liz’s best friend.

Fehr didn’t do that great after Roswell but he didn’t do that bad either. His most recognizable roles were in CSI: Miami as Dan Cooper and in Bones as Seeley Booth’s (David Boreanaz) brother, Jared Booth. His other shows include CSI: NY and a small part in Nikita as well as the TV movie The Cutting Edge: Fire & Ice.

Fehr dated his on screen girlfriend Majandra Delfino during the filming of the show and in 2006 married a young lady named Jennifer Rowley. They have one daughter together named James Olivia, born March 26, 2008. Fehr stayed good friends with his Roswell co-stars, Majandra Delfino and Nick Wechsler who played Kyle Valenti.

Fun Fact: His favorite sports are skiing, snowboarding and playing ice hockey and his favourite band is Metallica.

Kyle Valenti (Nick Wechsler) – Kyle is a football and basketball star at their local highschool and Liz Parker’s first boyfriend before max Evans came into the picture. Once Liz  broke up with him for Max, he becomes very jealous and high strung. Even though Liz and Max play out their love story through out the whole show, Kyle is never shy about his feelings for her and is ready to take Max’s place at any time.

Wechsler may have not become a well known actor but he did his share of random episodes for some known shows, like Malcolm in the Middle, Tru Calling, North Shore, Cold Case, Crossing Jordan, Vanished, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Without a Trace, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Past Life and Chase.

Unlike any of the Roswell actors, Wechsler was the only one to be born in New Mexico, right by Roswell where the show was filmed and based on. Even though he was in a lot of well known TV shows, there is less information about him than any of his Roswell alumni.

Fun Fact: Auditioned for at least 4 different roles on Roswell before he was offered the part of Kyle.

Sheriff Jim Valenti (William Sadler) – Sadler played the sheriff of Roswell and Kyle Valenti’s father. Jim’s father was also the sheriff of Roswell and he has been ridiculed among his peers for believing that aliens have visited earth. Sadler started acting in 1977 and had a slew of movies and TV-shows before and after Roswell.

After Roswell ended in 2002, Sadler added the following shows to his resume: Law & Order: CI, Third Watch, Tru Calling, Law & Order, CSI, Numb3rs, Medium, Fringe, Criminal Minds and Hawaii Five-O. He wasn’t too much on the movie scene but managed to squeeze in August Rush and Eagle Eye.

Before Roswell, Sadler did such historical movies as Die Hard 2, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, The Mist, The Shawshank Redemption, Disturbing Behavior and The Green Mile. Sadler met his wife, Marni Joan Bakst, While performing in New York and they married in 1978, they have one daughter together, Sadler Colley Bakst.

Fun Fact: Has played Shia LaBeouf’s father in two films: The Battle of Shaker Heights (2003) and Eagle Eye (2008).

Alex Whitman (Colin Hanks) – Hanks played Alex Whitman, a nerdy highschooler who is in on the alien secret and completely in love with Katherine Heigl’s character, Isabel Evans. Hanks didn’t do too bad for himself post Roswell, he has been on shows like The O.C., Mad Men, Numb3rs and even got a starring role in FOX’s The Good guys.

His post Roswell movies include Orange County, King Kong, W., and The House Bunny. On May 8, 2010, he married former New York publicist Samantha Bryant and on February 1, 2011 they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Olivia Jane Hanks.

Hanks was born Colin Lewes Dillingham in Sacramento, California, and is the eldest son of Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks and his first wife, the late producer and actress Susan Jane Dillingham. When his parents finally married in in 1988, Colin changed his last name to Hanks, after his famous father. His mom died of bone cancer on March 13, 2002.

Fun Fact: Has a dog named Taz.

Tess Harding (Emilie De Ravin) – Tess was one of the four aliens that landed on earth that night (Max, Isabel and Michael) but she didn’t come out of her pod until the other three came out and wondered off. She was meant to be Max’s mate before he met Liz. When Tess finally found Max and told him about his destiny, Max had a moment of infidelity and gave Tess a son, who she took back their home planet in a plot to get Max there as well.

De Ravin doesn’t have that many shows and movies on her resume, but that’s probably because she spent 5 years playing Claire Littleton on one of our decades’ most addictive and intriguing TV shows, LOST. She also appeared in episodes of NCIS and CSI as well as the movies The Hills Have Eyes and Remember Me with Robert Pattinson.

After three years of dating, actor Josh Janowicz, De Ravin married him on June 19, 2006 in Melbourne, Australia. She even flew back and forth from Hawaii while filming Lost just to see her hubby. Unfortunately In June 2009, it was reported that they have filed for divorce and are living separately.
