Here at Thats-All-Folks.com, we decided to start a countdown of who we feel are the top 100 Actors of All-Time. Note that this countdown will begin NOW, and end 99 Tuesdays from now. (Men Only) Know that this list is not compiled based on any surveys, lists, or opinions from anyone other than the Mrs. and me. First a little background, followed by a little fun.
Now … #100
William Gareth Jacob Busey Sr. born June 29th 1944 in Goose Creek Texas; started his career off with a bang when he portrayed Buddy Holly in The Buddy Holly Story. It was so good that Busey was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor … but was beat out by Jon Voight (Coming Home). When you’re that close to the top, some say there is nowhere to go but down and that’s exactly where Gary’s acting career went. For the next 15 years, you couldn’t find a movie that grossed more than $1 Million at the Box Office with Busey in the credits.
Bad roles combined with bad acting nearly sent Busey to the woodshed, but the man with the plan found his stride as a villain in Lethal Weapon, which put Gary back on the map. He followed with excellent roles in Point Break and Under Siege and has since fallen into oblivion.Sadly he has been reduced to films like The GingerDead Man (Which is HILARIOUS) and showing up on Celebrity Fit Club but that doesn’t stop us from saluting Mr. Gary Busey as the 100th Greatest Actor of All-Time.
Under Siege is hands down on our Top 10 Movies of All Time list for entertainment value alone. Tommy Lee Jones and Steven Segal (To make appearances down the road) add to the criminal genius of Gary Busey and there are plenty of movie quotes to go around. When you add Busey’s “Joshua” character from Lethal Weapon (The scene where he burns the cigarette butt into his arm is Chilling!) into the mix, one cannot deny his genius. But please don’t take my word for it… take Stewie Griffin’s.
