Yes it sounds just like my previous article “I started playing Tennis” but the difference here is that I’ve actually danced before, unlike Tennis where I’m just running around the court like a crazy person with a racket, which is not that great of an idea for a crazy person… but i digress.
I have actually been in and out of dance schools and dance teams since I was about 4 and I’ve tried everything from Ballet to Hip-Hop. (Between you and me I like Hip-Hop the best)
So here is the story. One of my friends (who I used to dance with on my college dance team) told me about a dance school that just happened to be down the street from my house and we decided to go. What we thought was going to be a beginners/intermediate Hip-Hop class turned out to be an Intermediate/Advanced Jazz class (An hour and a half long). Let’s just say this was the wrong class for me to take my first day back. I haven’t danced Jazz in about 5 years, haven’t danced anything for 3 years and I haven’t even worked out in 3 months. Aren’t you suppose to have something called muscle memory? Well apparently that’s something I’m lacking (Unless I’m missing the meaning of that phrase) because I was using muscles that apparently my body forgot I had and I looked like a damn fool. Every 20 minutes a different muscle started to cramp up and pain started shooting up my legs. Well I’ll stop the bitching… you get the point. Just to give you a time line, this was yesterday and today I’m walking as slow as possible and I prep to sit down worse than a pregnant lady at 9 months.
Withstanding all the pain, I’m going to continue stretching through the week and pick up another class next week… I am gonna need some new dance clothes though!
