If you feel like this story sounds a bit familiar, that’s because it is. Last year genealogy experts at Ancestry.com, found out that Ellen DeGeneres is related to Madonna, they are 11th cousins and they share a common 10th great-grandfather, Frenchman Martin Aucoin. This year, the hilarious talk show host is tied to another celebrity and duchess to be, Kate Middleton.
Tom Champoux of The New England Historic Genealogical Society, wrote a letter to DeGeneres revealing the news. “Our trusty genealogists have been at work on Kate Middleton’s genealogy. As we were doing the research, we discovered that you are related to Kate via a man named Sir Thomas Fairfax and his wife Agnes Gascoigne. You are distant cousins – 15th – but cousins still the same.”
If Ellen didn’t have a invite to the royal wedding before, she should definitely have one now. When DeGeneres found out the news, she was pretty excited. “Kate, ‘Cuz, let me know where you’re registered, I have a Pier 1 and a Target real, real close to my house.”
