Nixon was in a relationship with photographer Danny Mozes from 1988 to 2003, and they have two children together, daughter Samantha, 14, and son Charles, 8. It wasn’t until 2004 that Nixon started dating education activist, Christine Marinoni.
when asked about her sexual orientation in 2007, Nixon responded, “I don’t really feel I’ve changed. I’d been with men all my life, and I’d never fallen in love with a woman. But when I did, it didn’t seem so strange. I’m just a woman in love with another woman.” Marinoni gave birth to the couple’s son, Max Ellington Nixon-Marinoni, on February 7th 2011, and now they live happily ever after.
