Top Video Monday - The Beatles / Let It Be

Let It Be is a song by the legendary band, The Beatles, that was written by Paul McCartney and released on March 6th, 1970 as a single. The single reached number one in Germany, Italy, Australia, Switzerland, New Zealand, Norway and the United States and number two in the United Kingdom. It was the last single released by The Beatles while the band was still officially considered together.

The video might not be very extravagant but I like that it shows The Beatles at their best, creating music together and just hanging out. It even shows John Lennon and Yoko Ono together and all right before they finally broke up. This is a very special song.

Top Video Monday - Eminem & Rihanna / I Love The Way You Lie

O-M-G I love this song so much i want to scream it from the roof tops. I am so happy that Eminem is back from hibernation and is delivering these amazing songs once again. I always thought he was a genius, an artist like him comes around very rarely. I have been addicted to I love The Way You Lie since it came out on the radio and now I’m completely stocked for the video. It’s fantastic!

Dominic Monaghan (Lost and Flash Forward) and Megan Fox (Transformers) actually make a pretty hot couple. Between Eminem, Rihanna, Dominic, Megan and a burning house, This video can’t get any hotter.

Top Video Monday - Robert Palmer / Addicted To Love

Released in 1986, Addicted to Love became immensely popular, partly due to the music video itself. Right after it’s release, Addicted to Love topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the Billboard Top Rock Tracks chart as well as the UK Singles Chart. The song was supposed to be a duet with Chaka Khan but due to label conflicts that did not happen.

The music video shows Robert Palmer as the lead singer and a group of models with pale skin, heavy makeup and dark hair as his backups. The models in the video are (from left to right) Patty Kelly, Julie Pankhurst, Mak Gilchrist and Julia Bolino with Kathy Davies  on drums. In an interview with Q Magazine, one of the models said: “We were meant to look and “act” like showroom mannequins. The director got us tipsy on a bottle of wine but as we were having our make-up retouched, I lost my balance and knocked the top of my guitar into the back of Robert’s head, and his face hit the microphone.”

On one of VH1′s most hilarious shows, Pop-up Video, the video trivia mentioned that a musician was hired to teach the models basic guitar fingering techniques, but gave up after about an hour and left. Addicted to Love pretty much put Robert Palmer on the map and is one of the most famous videos to date. Enjoy.

Top Video Monday - The Kinks / You Really Got Me

Performed by rock band “The Kinks” and written by their lead singer Ray Davies, it didn’t take long till the hit song, You Really Got Me, reached number 1 on the UK singles chart. You Really Got Me came out on August 4, 1964 and established The Kinks as one of  the U.S. breakthrough British hits. If you think it was easy to make this hit, you’re dead wrong. It took The Kinks several recordings in different styles, to get to the hit that put them on the map.

You Really Got Me became so popular that a whole lot of bands wanted to record their own version. New Zealand blues-rock band The Human Instinct, the band Radio Cult, the band Oingo Boingo and the hard rock band Van Halen all wanted their own You Really Got Me. The song also appeared in some Nissan car commercials, karaoke video games  Revolution and Guitar Hero II as well as the movie Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.

The video below is an original performance by The Kinks  in 1964, singing the hit song You Really Got Me. Enjoy.

Apparently It's No Party Being a Lesbian Who Looks Like Justin Bieber

By way of E!’s link party to the mecca of Justin Bieber fever to a Lesbieber run in with the law – This is hilarious. This might not come as a surprise to some of you but there is actually a website called LesbiansWhoLookLikeJustinBieber(.tumbler).com. Why does such a silly website exist you ask? Well, for a few reason.

1. You really don’t need a reason to have a silly website.

2. The pure entertainment value is beyond anything I can put into words.

3. Because of poor little Katie, who was busted for drinking while looking like Justin Bieber.

According to TMZ, on June 12th 2009, local police were called into an Ocean City, Maryland bar called “Mug & Mallet” looking for the teen sensation with an over-sized beer mug in his hand. Instead, they found Katie, a 27-year-old woman trying to enjoy a quiet night of drinking with her lady friends. Katie, who wasn’t shocked by the situation at all, pulled out her ID and proved to the (probably surprised) cops that she is no way shape or form, Justin Bieber.

I have to give credit to Dlisted.com for the funniest Bieber quote I have heard in a while: “Dumb b*****s needs to know that Justin Bieber isn’t the first person to have magical bangs that can sweep the nightmares from your head”. I also want to make very clear that I’ve never had, have or will have, Bieber fever. The end.

Top Video Monday - The Beach Boys / Wouldn't It Be Nice

American pop band The Beach Boys, came out with Wouldn’t It Be Nice on July 11, 1966 as part of their “Pet Sounds” album. Composer and producer of the song, Brian Wilson, stated that the song is all about the frustrations of youth, “What you can’t have, what you really want and what you have to wait for”. Wilson even used the title of the song for the title of his autobiography. The Beach Boys, who formed in 1961, were pretty much the icon of a Southern California youth culture of cars, surfing, and romance. The Beach Boys are also known for hits like California Girls, Kokomo, I Get Around, Surfin’ USA, Barbara Ann and many more.

The first time I ever heard this song was in the movie 50 First Dates with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. In the movie, after Barrymore got in a car accident, she couldn’t remember any thing past the accident and is forced to relive that same day over and over again while the rest of the world moves on with their lives.  Once she catches the eye of Adam Sandler, he is hell bent on being with her and making her fall in love with him everyday as if it was the first. Barrymore sings the song Wouldn’t It Be Nice only on the days that she meets Sandler and that is how every one figures out that she’s starting to remember him.  How romantic.

Thanks Celebrity Apprentice For Showing Us The Real Bret Michaels

Who is Bret Michaels really? To start, he was born Bret Michael Sychak on March 15, 1963 in Butler Pennsylvania. Most people may know Bret as the lead singer of the American rock band Poison but as any rock-star out there, being a millionaire, a huge rock star and a notorious chick magnet just wasn’t enough for Bret.  Looking at Bret’s life as a whole, it was always safe to assume that Bret Michaels was just a sleazy rock guru. TV shows like Rock of Love (2007) and Rock of Love Bus (2008) really didn’t help his reputation much, if anything they made him seem even sleazier. For any one who is not familiar with VH1 reality television, Rock of Love is like The Bachelor only rock star style, with much sluttier groupies and you can just imagine the Bus version!

If you are like me and most sane people (Not to say that I myself am sane, just trying to make a point :-) ), you probably thought that Bret Michaels was as I mentioned before, just a sleazy rock-star. All that changed after Celebrity Apprentice 3. Turns out that Bret Michaels is not only a decent guy but actually pretty terrific. I am officially a fan. He is very artistic, very respectful, funny, smart and actually pretty attractive for a 40 year old rock-star with eye liner and bandannas. Which leaves the question, what really is under those bandannas… hahaha… Donald Trump is a riot.

Between the first part of the finale and the second part where Bret Michaels was hired, he has had some serious run ins with the man upstairs, and I don’t mean the floor above you. Not only was Bret diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 6 but on April 12, 2010, Michaels was rushed to the hospital after suffering intense stomach pains and an emergency appendectomy was performed. 10 days later he was rushed to the hospital again, this time complaining about intense headaches, only to discover that he had suffered a massive brain hemorrhage but was released a few days later claiming he was just one of those lucky guys. About a week ago, he went back to the hospital after having a minor stroke and doctors found a small hole in his heart. Wow… talk about being unlucky.

But being the Bret Michaels we all know and love, he left the hospital to attend the live Celebrity Apprentice finale, which was a great decision considering he won. And last night, he even appeared on the American Idol finale, singing a duet with Casey James who came in at third place. I must say for a would be sleazy rock star, he’s done a damn good job at recreating himself. Love ya Bret!

Top Video Monday - The Cloud Room / Hey Now Now

The Cloud Room is an American band based in Brooklyn, New York founded in the year 2000.  Their self titled album was released in 2005 and contains the hit song “Hey Now Now” later to be named as a top ten single of the year by Rolling Stone magazine. In 2007, The Cloud Room became the first unsigned band to be used in an international ad campaign when Pepsi used “Hey Now Now” in a Frédéric Planchon-directed spot titled “Destinies” and featuring Ronaldinho.

I first heard this song in a commercial, I don’t know for what and I don’t think it was the Pepsi commercial because I just watched it and it didn’t look familiar. I don’t know why but the song makes me smile even before listening to the words just by listening to the melody. The music video however is very interesting because it has a theme and makes you want to keep watching, just to see what happens.  Enjoy!

Top Video Monday - The Who / My Generation

The Who is an English rock band formed in 1964, who’s band members consist of Roger Daltrey (Vocalist), Pete Townshend (Guitarist), John Entwistle (Bassist) and Keith Moon (Drummer). The Who have sold about 100 million records and have charted 27 top forty singles in the United States and United Kingdom with 17 top ten albums including 18 Gold, 12 Platinum and 5 Multi-Platinum album awards in the United States alone. They even performed at such memorable concerts like the “Monterey Pop” and “Woodstock”.

The Who began their road to fame in the UK with a series of top ten hit singles, boosted in part by pirate radio stations. My Generation was their official debut album in the UK in 1965 and in the US in 1966. The album also contained a song called “My Generation” which became so popular, it was named the 11th greatest song by Rolling Stone magazine on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

I’ve been familiar with The Who for a long time but the first time I heard this song, I heard it covered in French by Chapeaumelon and appeared on the soundtrack of the 2004 film EuroTrip. And let’s face it, that film is fantastic. The video is The Who introducing themselves and performing the hit song on some talk show in the 60′s. Enjoy.

Top Video Monday - MC Hammer / U Can't Touch This

This is really a classic, I mean how can you not love the parachute pants. U Can’t Touch This was released in 1990 by rapper and entertainer MC Hammer as part of his album Please Hammer, Don’t Hurt ‘Em which sold more than 10 million copies mostly due to this single. The song was written by MC Hammer but lists Rick James as a co-author due to James’ song Super Freak being a big part of the music.

U Can’t Touch This first debuted as a live performance on a late 1989 episode of The Arsenio Hall Show and soon after started showing up on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, Dance Music/Club Play, Dance Music/Maxi-Singles sales, R&B/Hip Hop Singles & Tracks and Rap Singles as well as the Australian, Austrian, Canadian, Dutch, French, Irish, Norwegian, Swedish, Swiss and UK charts. The song became so popular that the song’s catch phrases “Can’t touch this” and “Stop! Hammertime” became common pop culture references on TV, movies and pop culture in general.
