This is an oldy but definitely a goody. The song Baker Street, named after an actual street in London, was written and recorded by Scottish singer-songwriter Gerry Rafferty. This ballad is about Rafferty’s own experience. While travelling between his family home near Glasgow and his friend’s flat in London on Baker Street, Rafferty was batteling contract issues with his former band, Stealers Wheel, that broke up in 1975.
He was not able to release any songs for three years after the breakup and Baker Street was the first song he released after the dispute was resolved in 1978. Baker Street became [...]

Christina Perri is a singer / songwriter from Philadelphia and her song Jar of Hearts became an instant success after being featured on So You Think You Can Dance on June 30, 2010 in a performance by Billy Bell and Kathryn McCormick. And that was not just a coincidence, Perri’s friend Keltie Colleen passed the song to show choreographer Stacey Tookey who choreographed that piece, as Perri and Colleen enjoyed the performance from the audience.
The exposure that So You Think You Can Dance gave Christina Perri and Jar of Hearts catapulted the song to stardum. The song sold 48,000 digital [...]
