2010 NCAA Tournamnet Preview: (6) Notre Dame vs. (11) Old Dominion

Just a few weeks ago, Notre Dame had little to no chance in making the final 65.  With the loss of their big man, Luke Harangody, the Irish were coming off of a three game losing streak and it appeared that streak would continue to grow.  Somehow, someway, Notre Dame finished the regular season on a four game winning streak and made a deep run in the Big East tournament.  Rewarded with a six seed, the Fighting Irish will square off against the Monarchs of Old Dominion in the first round.

2010 NCAA Committee Not a Fan of the Mississippi State Bulldogs

If you’re just tuning in, the Mississippi State Bulldogs are lobbying Congress to change the value of a minute to 59.9 seconds instead of 60.  If  it goes anything like the SEC championship game earlier today, MS State will once again, come up empty.
The poor Bulldogs were literally one-tenth of a second away from securing their second consecutive SEC tournament championship, when DeMarcus Cousins put back a John Wall miss that tied the game as time expired.  You could tell that after that shot, Mississippi State had less than a 0% chance of pulling the game out in OT as [...]

The Bachelor Should Be Renamed Pure Torture

So somehow, someway, Mrs. Smith was able to grapple her hooks into me and make me watch the last five or six episodes of this season of The Bachelor.  Honestly speaking, I’ve always thought of the idea to be extremely stupid.  Forcing love on one person by choosing 25 strangers they’ve never met and allowing them to spend a few hours a day with them for a few months is a great way to staff divorce lawyers in my opinion.  Be that as it may, I recognize the flash and dash and why the show continues to be successful, Because [...]

2010 World Cup Preview – THE NETHERLANDS

The orange, white and blue of the Netherlands may be fielding their strongest team to date for the 2010 World Cup and if the qualification stage was any indication, Holland should breeze through the group stage.  Paired with Denmark, Japan and Cameroon, the Dutch are favored to win the group and my personal dark-horse to advance to the semifinals of the competition.
Previous World Cup’s have not been very kind to the Netherlands and the tradition of world-class football is not nearly what it is for some of the other high-profile teams competing.  Much to my surprise (I’m only 25), Holland [...]

Shutter Island Review – Movie Review w/ Spoilers!

For the first time in 2010, I was looking forward to seeing a movie with Mrs. Smith.  While the Book of Eli had my attention when it hit theaters, Shutter Island put together a more interesting story in the horror genre, which I simply could not resist.  When you add in the direction of Martin Scorsese, it appears to be a must watch film.  Did it hold up to my expectations?
The movie opens with Teddy Daniels (An FBI agent played by Leonardo DiCaprio) and Chuck Aule (Teddy’s FBI partner played by Mark Ruffalo) sailing into Shutter Island, a prison housing [...]

The Book of Eli Movie Review

The Book of Eli

If you’ve been going to the movies lately, then you know that there hasn’t been a shortage of apocalyptic themed films.  After seeing “Knowing” and “2012”, I was tired and disappointed that the end of the world couldn’t be done in a way which I found enjoyable to watch.  Both of those movies showed worldwide destruction, as it happened, and in the end offered hope for the rebuilding of humanity.  However, for [...]

TGI Friday's 3 Course Meal for $12.99 Review

TGI Fridays Review

It’s tradition of That’s All Folks to take advantage of low-priced quality food from chain restaurants and when TGI Friday’s relaunched their 3 Course Meal for $12.99, we weren’t gonna miss it this time.  Our first restaurant chain review of Applebee’s didn’t go well at all and our second chain review of Chili’s was pretty awesome.  TGI Friday’s has always been a favorite in the Smith household but how would their menu options and food quality hold up this time?
As is standard operating procedure, we patronized the TGI Friday’s restaurant located in the Biscayne and 146th Shopping Plaza.  The Mrs. [...]

2010 World Cup Preview – BRAZIL

Brazil Soccer Girl

An odds on favorite to win the World Cup this year and every year, Brazil will field a relatively untested and inexperienced 2010 World Cup team.  Just because they are inexperienced, don’t think that they are any less capable of winning it all because if you sit down and talk with Brazil soccer fans, this squad has more talent and potential than soccer has ever seen.  The only thing holding them back might be Carlos Caetano Bledorn Verri, better known to the world as Dunga, Brazil’s head coach.  Did you know that the translation of Dunga is “Dopey”, one of [...]

The New Jersey Nets Are Ruining Peoples Lives!

New Jersey Nets

If you have been following the NBA season this year, you are well familiar with the futility of the NJ Nets.  Their current record of 1-19 has allowed them to set the NBA record for the worst start to a season and just last week they fired their arguably excellent coach in Lawrence Frank.  With the team spinning completely out of control, president Bruce Ratner has put together a plan of action to save [...]

Saw VI Review With Spoilers

Saw 6 movie

As has become recent tradition, Halloween means it’s time to go see another Saw movie.  This time, some friends and I watched Saw VI on Halloween night.  The tradition has actually become more of a chore than anything else, as the last three Saw installments have been less than memorable.  Back in 2004 when the first movie was released, I was stunned at the ingenious idea.  Followed by Saw II in 2005, the impression was that this franchise would be known as the greatest horror movies of all time.  Sadly, three years and three bad movies later, here I am [...]
