1. Was the Miss Teen All American in 1985, Miss Ohio USA in 1986 and the first runner up to Miss USA in 1986.
2. First African American actress to win the Oscar for Best Actress and first black American in the Miss World Competition.
3. Lost some hearing in one of her ears due to a physical altercation with a boyfriend in the early 90′s and is an active participant with the Jenesee Center for abused women and children in Los Angeles.
4. Pierce Brosnan saved Berry from choking on a fig during the shooting of a love scene in Cuba for Die Another Day.
5. Well known for “living” her roles out, she refused to bathe for two weeks in preparation for a role as a crack addict in Jungle Fever in 1991.
