1. He was actually born Carlos Irwin Estévez. His father, Martin Sheen, at the time was an actor and he adopted his stage name in honor of the Catholic archbishop and theologian, Fulton J. Sheen. This led to both Charlie and his mother Janet to adopt this stage name.
2. Sheen has two brothers and one sister: Emilio Estevez, Ramon Estevez and Renée Estevez, all of whom are actors.
3. Charlie accidentally shot then fiancée Kelly Preston in the arm. Soon after that incident, she left him and married her formerly platonic friend John Travolta.
4. Was born a “blue baby”, term used to describe newborns with cyanotic conditions, such as heart defects and respiratory distress. The doctor who saved him was named Irwin and his parents named him after the doctor.
5. He also loves barbeque sauce and has even thought about releasing his own brand someday.
