If I say that there was a lot of Emmy Fashion on the red carpet and only a few really great dresses, you best believe that the worst dressed list is full to capacity. My worst dressed has to be Gwyneth Paltrow. I wouldn’t say she’s always dressed to the tee but a bare midriff??? She should know better. If only her Emilio Pucci gown’s top and bottom were sown together, it would be such a pretty dress but the shear black mesh on her peekaboo tummy made her skin look dirty and although she is probably a zero, you can see her skin kind of spilling out of that cut out.
Next up is our lead comedic actress winner, Melissa McCarthy, who I totally love from as far back as her Sookie days on Gilmore Girls. But you probably know her as the manly and very flexible lady from Bridesmaids and as Molly from the comedy Mike & Molly for which she won the Academy award. McCarthy said she designed the dress herself, and I say, you should keep your day job. The color was OK but the inside out stitches really made it look like an arts and crafts project.
Another favorite of mine, Zooey Deschannel, showed up in Monique Lhuillier, and although her hair and makeup were picture perfect that dress was just blah. Julianna Margulies in Armani Privé looked like a frosted mug and yes Lea Michele landed on my worst dressed for the first time ever, no offense Lea but that Marchesa gown was made for a much taller person. Amy Poehler and Dianna Agron I’ve already talked about and Jayma Mays in Zuhair Murad looked just a little too vanilla, I get that she plays a sweet character, but it’s an award show, step it up! I expect more ladies.
