September 19, 2011, at 11:02 amIf you didn’t see the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards last night, you really missed out! I laughed, I cried, and I didn’t short hand it like Will & Grace. Jane Lynch was absolutely fantastic as the host, probably the best one I’ve seen, she was hilarious and didn’t offend anyone, except for maybe the cast of Entourage when she pointed out that they are the reason she is a lesbian.
In terms of fashion, red was really the color of the night, according to E!’s Fashion Police pre show, the people to watch were Kate Winslet, Nina Dobrev, Lea Michele, Minka Kelly and Sofia Vergara. Three of them were in red and one in coral. Giuliana Rancic was looking forward to Minka Kelly’s post breakup hotness but the new Charlie’s Angel did not bring it at all, she looked more like an old magician.
Red may have been the color of the night but The Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev totally killed it in her Donna Karen Gown. I might be a little biased because I’m a big fan but I’m definitely not the only one. According to E!’s fashion face off, Nina Dobrev is Everyone’s number one pick. E! host Giuliana is my number two pick and then the rest. Lea Michele normally brings it to award shows but she said she wanted to be comfortable this year, and she definitely was. Her Marchesa gown may have been pretty but not for her and not for this event.
Another popular color at the awards was blue but I’m sad to say, the blue dresses weren’t as impressive as the red ones. Amy Poehler’s dress looked like those shinny leggings from the 80′s, Diana Agron’s gown aged her by a good 20 years and Katie Holmes looked like she was going for a walk in the park instead of an award show, totally understated.
